Stars on South Padre Island

I was lucky to have spent this past Labor Day weekend on South Padre Island camping, swimming, and photographing the stars. Even though it feels like the majority of time was spent keeping sand out of the tent and off of my cameras, this trip was overdue & very much needed-- a perfect little siesta from reality along the Texas coastline.

I have never really been interested in night photography or making long exposures, but since we arrived to a pitch-black beach at 1 AM, our activities were pretty limited to star-gazing and beer-drinking. It wasn't long before some in-camera experiments took off and the Milky Way galaxy magically started appearing onto my camera screen. It was nice change from what I normally do, photo-related & otherwise.

Friday at Friends of Sound

Last week I got to spend my Friday afternoon at the cutest lil record shop that I had never walked into until that day. Friends of Sound is a hidden gem tucked away in a back alleyway off of South Congress. The staff was super sweet, and I spent over two hours snapping pics and lusting over amazing vinyl treasures. I limited myself to one treat, and snagged a copy of Bob's Planet Waves.

Here are some house favorites...

East Austin shoot for The Bearded Bastard

This summer, I've resolved to try new things & expand my horizons! Which explains why I am blogging for the first time in years and recently did a lifestyle shoot for a local Austin beard oil company. The Bearded Bastard wanted to do a little promo for their new line of vintage, screen-printed cotton tees and tanks. Check out the full look book on TBB's online journal.
