I was lucky to have spent this past Labor Day weekend on South Padre Island camping, swimming, and photographing the stars. Even though it feels like the majority of time was spent keeping sand out of the tent and off of my cameras, this trip was overdue & very much needed-- a perfect little siesta from reality along the Texas coastline.
I have never really been interested in night photography or making long exposures, but since we arrived to a pitch-black beach at 1 AM, our activities were pretty limited to star-gazing and beer-drinking. It wasn't long before some in-camera experiments took off and the Milky Way galaxy magically started appearing onto my camera screen. It was nice change from what I normally do, photo-related & otherwise.
